Course Outline - Option 4 - Installation Practices 101

There are a total of 5 class modules included in this option.

You will learn installation practices for indoor equipment, outdoor equipment, soldering, and duct work. This course also includes JWA115 - Air Flow, teaching static pressure, traversing, the use of a flow hood and how to measure air.

Class ID Class Title Hours
JWA109 Installation Practices I 8 Hours
Students will learn how to construct a platform to set indoor equipment using tape measures, skill saws and levels. They will learn how to prepare the platform for installation of the filter base refrigerant piping, gas piping and condensate drainage system. They will learn how to set the indoor equipment, level it and seal it to the filter base. They will learn how to prepare the indoor evaporator coil for installation and install it to the furnace. They will learn how to connect electrical to furnace and thermostat low voltage control system.

JWA110 Installation Practices II 8 Hours
Students will learn how to construct the plenum and duct work and attach it the indoor unit.

JWA111 Installation Practices III 8 Hours
Students will learn how to solder, bend and add copper fittings to the refrigerant piping system. They will learn how to construct the condensate drainage system.

JWA112 Installation Practices IV 8 Hours
Students will learn how to connect the electrical to the outdoor equipment. They will learn how to set the outdoor equipment on a level pad and connect the refrigerant piping. They will also learn how to connect the low voltage control system. They will learn how to evacuate the refrigerant piping system, add refrigerant and correctly charge the fully constructed system.

JWA115 Airflow 8 Hours
Students will learn the properties of air and air flow. They will learn how to measure air by temperature rise method, static pressure, traversing ducts and air flow Bolometer.
